Common Myths About Hair Extensions

Rebehair: You’ve seen the way hair extensions can elevate a look by giving fullness to otherwise lifeless hair. Perhaps you’ve even looked up some articles online or talked to a stylist or friend about getting hair extensions. Still, some concerns may be holding you back from trying out hair extensions, from fusion hair extensions to skin wefted hair. Those concerns are probably valid – it’s important to take good care of your hair – but here are a few myths about hair extensions that may help you make your decision.

They are Painful

ingenious hair hacks

With advancing hair care technology, hair extensions have continued to evolve. If anyone tells you that the application or wearing of hair extensions is painful, chances are that they applied the hair extensions incorrectly or that their stylist may be untrained or ungifted with hair extensions. If you have them applied at a salon and experience any discomfort, it’s important to go back and have them adjusted. Stylists should be trained and certified to apply, style, and maintain hair extensions pain-free.

They Prevent An Active Lifestyle

Hair extensions are meant to be an extension of natural hair, so when applied and maintained correctly, they will not get in the way of even the most active lifestyle. Swimmers, rock climbers, runners, and triathletes can all wear hair extensions with ease. Regular maintenance is important to keep them in shape for these activities as well as day-to-day life, but the maintenance is something your stylist can teach you to do at home.

They Damage Hair

There are a few different types of hair extensions, so it’s important to make the distinction between them. Among them are clip-in hair extensions, heat fusion hair extensions, cold fusion hair extensions, skin weft hair extensions, and microbead hair extensions. Each of these feature a different method of application. Clip-in extensions are the least damaging, but they also offer the least amount of versatility. They’re great for adding volume, highlights, or length and are the easiest to apply yourself. Heat fusion hair extensions are potentially the most damaging to hair, because many types use a wax adhesive and can be messy but don’t have to be if you consult a professional

Do you know the most natural method for hair extensions? Here, you can try beaded hair extensions or “micro bead” extensions. Professional can put them in, but you can take beaded hair extensions at home.

1.Part hair in four sections – front, both sides and back.
2.Hold a beaded strand starting at the hairline for a clear view.
3.Apply pressure to the sides to open the head. Do not squeeze too tight, for this will cause the bead to tighten instead of loosen.
4.Slide bead downward gently and away from hair. If apply the right amount of pressure, the hair extension should slide off with the bead. Use a fine toothed comb to comb the natural hair strand. Once all heads have been removed, it will be easier to comb through hair. If it is matted or tangled, do not comb through hair.

5.If head is difficult to remove, you can squeeze it in different directions to break it.
6.Repeat the process to remove all the beaded extensions in the section.
7.Use a hair clip or hair band to pin up the completed section or prevent tangles.
8.Work though the remaining sections to remove the beads and pin the completed sections.

9.Release the hair sections.
10.Wet hair. Apply a generous amount of conditioner thoroughly and evenly. Let the conditioner sit in hair for at least 15 minutes. The longer the conditioner sits on the hair, the removing effect is better
11.Use a fine-toothed comb to carefully comb a matted or tangled section, starting at the end. Keep this process until you can easily comb through the hair.

1.It is recommended to give hair a break from extensions.
2.It is recommended hair color or any other chemical treatments for a couple of weeks.
3.Throw beads out, and do not re-use beads.
4.Take proper care of hair extension to minimize tangles and matting in natural hair, and preserve hair extensions for future use.
5.Do not comb through tangles from the scalp down.

Chemical check:

Make sure the hair has no chemicals left in it. If it is true virgin hair, it should have no chemicals at all. You can do a sniff test to see if you can pick up any odors from a perm or relaxing. Another method is to apply a dime sized amount of neutralizing shampoo and massage into the hair. If it turns pink, it means the hair has been chemically treated.

Cuticle check:

100% virgin hair should have cuticles. If it does not, the cuticles have been stripped, usually with an acid bath. You can check for cuticles by running your finger down the length of the hair. The hair should feel smooth going down, but you should experience some resistance as you move your hand up the shaft.

Smoke check:

Take a match or lighter and light the ends of the hair. Human hair should burn with white smoke and turn to ash. Synthetic hair will burn with black smoke and have a sticky texture.

The “too-perfect” check:

Virgin hair is taken straight from the scalp of donors and should have some irregularities in it. If the hair seems “too perfect” then it probably is.

Tip: Sample the hair first. Order a sample-size hair from the virgin hair company and perform the above tests on it. If the company is not forthcoming with their product, then it makes sense to wonder if they have something to hide.

Rebehair | How to Sew in Virgin Hair

Rebehair: Virgin hair is the hair extensions which have never been processed or treated, and that means the donors have never in their lifetime gone to a salon to get their hair curled or colored. A virgin hair also comes from a single donor, which means that all the hairs just run in the same direction and tangle-fee. Brazilian, Peruvian, Indian and Malaysian hair are all a form of Virgin hair. The hair is 100% natural and the cuticles are kept intact and free of any damage. The hair usually comes from the specific country it is named after. According to the different usage, we can divide the virgin hair into hair weaves, wigs and lace closure, etc. And the hair weaves can be sew-in, glued-in and clipped-in. This passage will focus on the method to apply the sew-in virgin hair.

Sew In Hair Extensions

Before sewing in virgin hair, you need to prepare a comb, a pair of scissors and a flat iron besides the virgin hair set which concludes hair extensions, a weaving cap, ‘J’ or ‘C’ shape sewing needle with thread whose color is similar to your hair color.

First, comb and braid your hair each of whose thickness should be 0.5 to 1 inch from front to back of your scalp or make a circle. Don’t braid your hair too thin, which will lead to too many braids and too much thickness can make your head look lumpy. Then, put the weaving cap over the braids and make all the hair braids underneath the cap. Take a strand of hair extension and put the weft on the back of the cap from ear to ear to measure the length of track and cut the excess hair with scissors. Then, have another strand in hand and thread the needle and tie a knot not to make the thread loose. Push the needle through the middle of the weft and one end of the extensions, pass the weaving cap and then pull out. Make sure the thread is tight so it won’t get loose so that the hair won’t fall off from the cap. Repeat this step until the whole strand is sewn in the cap. Tie a knot again and cut the excess thread. Find a place about 1/2 inch above the strand you just sewed and apply another strand into the cap. Remember to knot the end of each row to keep the track in the right place. Repeat to sew in hair strands till you reach ear level on your cap.

sew in hairWhen you finish the vertically sew-in hair extensions by reaching ear level, you can focus on the horizontal sewing that means you can sew rows in circle around your hair. Line the front of the first circle with the edge of the weaving cap. Sew full circles until you reach the top of your head but leave a small circle at the top whose diameter is about one inch. Take another wefted hair and cut it into 2 inches track and roll this track onto itself, then use the threaded needle to sew five times from left to right to keep the shape. This is aimed at closing the weave. Then, keep the top of the wefts facing downward and use a flat iron to flatten the closure. Put the closure into the circle left just now and sew it with needle and thread to secure and repeat around the entire circle to close the weave.

You can also change the length and color of the weave as you like after sewing.

How Long Could Your Hair Weave Last?

Hair products are now a must-have item for fashion people.Celebrities use hair weave or lace wigs to change their looking, which will give us a very fresh feelings. And the price for human hair weaves are not so expensive like before, most of the people could afford. Many people have a question, that is:how long could my hair weave/lace wig last? Is it easy to broken for my hair?

putting hair extension

There are mainly 2 kinds of hair products, one is made of synthetic hair and the other is made of 100% human hair.It also depends on the hair length of your unit,if the hair weave is quite short, then it could last longer than the longer ones,it will last at least half of year, but however in summer,it could not last that long.On the other hand, for the longer ones,it’s very hard to manager sometimes. It will become very dry when you wear sweater or some fiber clothes.

So we recommend you to choose some better quality hair weave products, must be 100% human hair,or even remy or virgin hair, which has a much higher quality than the non-remy hair, also the price is higher, but it still worth.

You could choose to buy 2-3 ones to wear alternately,so they will all last longer time.

Here are just a few tips may help you:

1.Do not too close to heat, heat is not good for either synthetic or human hair products.

2.Do not try to dye the hair if you are not good at it.To dye a wig is more difficult than to dye your own hair.So its better to find someone who is professional to help you about this.

3.Do not comb too hard your hair, just try to comb the hair softly.

4.Do not use hot water to wash the hair, please use normal or warmer water to wash the hair.

Common Problems For Hair Weave

Hair weave business is quite different with other common businesses. Most of the hair products procedure are hand made. And all the hair are collected by different places, different people and different time,so complaints are normal in hair weave business.

What are the 5 common problems for hair weave?

Hair Quality

The hair type itself is the crucial factor of the quality. In short, there are 3 types of hair:

Non-remy hair: It means the cuticle are not in the same direction, the hair has been acid washed.

Hair weave business

Remy hair: The cuticle are intact and aligned in the same direction, this could make sure the hair remains super soft, shiny and tangle free.

Virgin hair: This means the hair is completely unprocessed and cuticle in tact.It should come from a single donor.

So as you could see,the best choice to buy remy or virgin hair, which are more expensive than non-remy hair.We have many customers that told us that some of the virgin hair weave they bought could be used in about 2 years time, and the hair had been dyed and permed, but still remain very good quality. If its not virgin hair,it would never last such long time.

Hair Shedding

You have to wash and comb the hair very softly,do not put it too hard. Some reports also says the light color ones are more easier to shed.

Hair Tangling

This might be the most common problem in hair weave business. And its always hard to tell which part the problem is,because many customers do not know how to care hair products.

We always suggest our customers to learn as much as info about hair caring from or other useful sites. And for our hair weave factory,we will control the hair quality always the best.

Hair Color Difference

Because different hair weave factories have different hair color chart, besides the most common colors like 1# 1B# 2#,you should be careful when you choose the other colors, most of the times, the hair color chart pictures showing on the company website has color difference with the real hair color. So if you want to keep doing business with one reliable hair weave factory, buy a hair color chart is strongly suggested.

Lace Wig Cap Broken(For lace wigs)

The cap is easy to get broken if the cap is not good quality, many customers showed us pictures that there are small holes on the cap. This should be the lace is not durable.

For whatever reason, when you have to wear lace wig or use hair weave, its better to learn as much as info before you purchase anything.Normally the hair weave should last at least last around half of year.
